A latte is a popular coffee drink made with a shot of espresso and steamed milk, typically topped with a small amount of frothy milk foam. Known for its creamy texture and smooth flavor, a latte can be enjoyed plain or sweetened with sugar, honey, or flavored syrups. It’s a versatile drink, often made with various milk options such as whole, skim, or plant-based alternatives like almond or oat milk. A classic latte is typically low in calories, but the addition of sweeteners can increase its calorie content. Perfect for a morning pick-me-up or a cozy afternoon treat!

Latte – Parveen Coffee

Prep Time 6 minutes
Course: Drinks
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 Shot Espresso about 1 ounce or 30 ml
  • 6-8 Ounces Milk whole milk works best, but you can use any milk or milk alternative like almond, oat, or soy milk
  • Sweetener Sugar, honey, or flavored syrup to taste

Equipment

  • Espresso Machine
  • Milk frother
  • A Coffee Cup

Method

  1. Brew the Espresso:

Use an espresso machine to brew one shot of espresso (1 ounce). If you don't have an espresso machine, you can make a strong cup of coffee using a French press or pour-over method, but espresso is ideal for a true latte.

    Froth the Milk:

While the espresso is brewing, steam or froth your milk. If you have a milk frother, use it to create a nice, creamy foam. You want the milk to be heated to about 150°F (65°C) and have a velvety texture.

If you don’t have a frother, heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat, but don’t let it boil. Once it's warm, whisk vigorously until foam forms. Alternatively, you can use a hand blender to froth it.

    Combine the Espresso and Milk:

Pour the hot espresso shot into your coffee cup.

Gently pour the steamed milk into the espresso, holding back the foam with a spoon. Then, top with the frothy foam.

    Sweeten (optional):

Add sugar, honey, or flavored syrup to taste, if desired.

    Serve and Enjoy:

Optionally, you can garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa powder for extra flavor.

Notes

  • For a stronger flavor: Add an extra shot of espresso.

  • For a creamier texture: Use whole milk, as it froths better than skim milk.

  • Latte Art: If you’re feeling fancy, you can try making latte art with the frothed milk!

Enjoy your homemade latte!
